Jeremiah chapter 47: No matter how had we loved, we are still human beings and won’t be there always. Forgive yourself for not being everything for those you love.

It this book, we again read God’s condemnation of other countries. We started with Egypt and today we look at Philistines. Philistines had been defeated during David’s and other times but they built themselves up and by the times when this message was delivered, they were a prosperous nation once again. The message came to prophet Jeremiah before Pharaoh smote Gaza. According to the writers of Wiersbe Bible commentary, the king of Egypt destroyed Gaza either on his way to Carchemish or on his return journey (in which journey, Necoh killed Israel’s King Josiah). Other sources say that Gaza was destroyed by Pharaoh Hophra on his fruitless return journey from helping Judah against the Babylonians (which must have happened in the ninth year of King Zedekiah’s rule). According to bible odyssey website, the philistines were completely destroyed and taken captives to Babylon in 604 BC. Since we exposed that Egypt and Assyria were defeated by Babylon at Carchemish in 605 BC, then is highly p…

Is There Untimely Death? Between God & Satan, Who is responsible for Death?

Image
God And Satan, Sin And Righteous, Death and Life; the truth now!
So many times we have lost our friends in seemingly untimely manners. Someone was just 28, after completion of her degree and acquisition of a job and maybe had recently married a handsome man only to die in a motor accident few days after all those events.
Some die one night before their wedding days. Some die young, and others very old. To us, all this is unfair and untimely for it leaves so much hanged. And everyone wonders if there are accidental deaths! Today, I am gonna try to answer this question with some bible references.
For this reason, you may not waste any time reading this if you do not believe in the bible for you won’t be helped.

Why there is persecution of foreigners in South Africa?

Image
I happened to read Ivan Okuda`s post today about this current story where by the South African people have taken it in their hands to chase all the foreigners and there are so many angles which he pointed out that I still trust are true. Actually, the latest news has shown so many of the foreigners being burnt alive despite the police’s efforts to calm down the violence. You see, there is one thing that most leaders forget as soon as they join power: That people have great power even stronger that metal weapons. What am I saying? The day people become fully fed up with a certain manner, be sure they will change it no matter what.

What is not happening in Makerere? The school that once carried Ugandan light now practices darkness

Image
When Makerere university was having strikes, i wrote a good article advising them on how to go about it. So many of you liked the article especially Caesar and really agreed with me that this university has lost its identity and is full of hooligans. Just yesterday, a fellow graduate was killed on fake accusations in cold blood or mob justice and you want to again say that Makerere university deserves honour. No, i do not know why people are never straight. Makerere has lost its glory and it no longer gives a meaning to hear that somone is studying from there.

Jeremiah chapter 46: Punished fairly but not destroyed completely, I can be restored.

Image
The message in this chapter was a special address to Egypt, the first of the foreign nations to be condemned. Back to history, Assyria had been great in the years of 720s and the great northern kingdom of Israel was destroyed by Assyria in 722 BC (2 Kings 17:1-6). However, Assyria had started to decline during the times of King Josiah of Judah (the southern Kingdom of Israel). Actually, this is one of the reasons why Josiah was able to carry out reformation within his kingdom since Assyria that always interfered with Judah’s policies was falling. Remember, King Josiah ruled between 640-609 BC.

Jeremiah chapter 45: Even great servants of God can get distressed but God restores those who wait on Him. “Come with your burdens and I will release you”

Image
Chronologically, this chapter follows Jeremiah chapter 36. In our exposition of 36, we read that time came during the fourth year of Jehoiakim kingship and God instructed prophet Jeremiah to put all the prophecies into writing. Then Jeremiah called for his faithful servant Baruch who served as secretary and wrote everything that Jeremiah dictated. In that same chapter, we learned that Baruch took the order of reading the book to people in the temple, and the story ended up with him and Jeremiah being searched to be killed and the Lord hid them (Jeremiah 36). Writers like John Gill observe that it is after such persecutions that Baruch felt discouraged as shown here in 45 on verse 3.

Jeremiah chapter 44: It is your duty to help your partner live a godly life.

Image
In this chapter, we read the most profound disobedience against God’s word. We open the chapter with Jeremiah bringing God’s word to the Jews that were living in different towns of Egypt (Migdol, Tahpanhes, Noph, and Pathros). God talked in anger to these people and wondered how they could forget the bad things that had just happened to their Judah and all its cities due to the idolatry and other sins! And we observe that these people had come to Egypt against God’s counsel and were already worshipping the sun and other gods in Egypt, the same sins that had provoked God into punishing Jerusalem with fire by the enemy Nebuchadnezzar. God had used prophets to stop them from sinning but they had not paid attention to His word up to the last hour (verses 1-11).

The lesson i learned via hard way: For every generation, there will always be victims or losers, just try to be on the other side

Image
It was in 2013 and we were having a hand-over party at school(i mean, Mutolere nursing school) and we invited the hospital superintendent, Mr. Mugisha Jerome. The fact is i like this guy. He is educated and learned and i won’t forget his speech on that day. While all of us had a lot of complaints about what was going on in the school, this man made all my arguments fade before i said anything. In his speech, he said that at every time, there are victors and victims and then the oppressed. No matter how fair societies may try to be, there will always be those people affected or oppressed as the rest make through with successes.

Jeremiah chapter 43: The only secure and most beautiful place is where God wants us to be.

Image
In today’s reading, we observe the practical disobey of God’s counsel. Despite the promises, the warning, the review of historical experience, and the disclosure of the plot they had against God’s counsel, Johanan and his men proceeded and acted against God’s word. Jeremiah had done a lot to help his nation by telling the right path to follow but no one had paid attention. Throughout the last chapters up to the last day that Jerusalem was burnt down, he was wrongly accused of many sins but all the facts pointed him out as the right one. But even after all those things had happened, he is referred to as the lair telling what God has not said (verses1-3). They say that nothing can stop a determined-to-sin heart from sinning. And that is what a mindset is.

Career guidance: What do you look at before choosing a career?

Image
People who guide us on what career to take or leave usually base their advice on what is important to them. While it is true that some of us we really do not know what is important for us, it is quite significant to consider a a person’s priorities before we can dictate on which career to take or drop. So the next time you go for career gudance and you want to give one to someone, make sure you have understood the following

Jeremiah chapter 42: Making the most of God’s counsel or His word’s interpretation

Image
In this chapter, we read another great disobedience of God`s counsel. Like we said before, time came and Johanan and his fellow army officers arranged to go to Egypt because of the fear of what Nebuchadnezzar would do to the remnants of Judah following the news that Gedaliah was assassinated on that soil. But before their move, they pretended to seek God`s counsel on what they had already decided to do. So Jeremiah was approached and requested to seek God`s counsel in regard to going to Egypt. They also promised that they would obey whatever reply God gave since it would be God`s word(verses 1-6). Jeremiah promised to do their request and speak to God on their behalf though he already knew what they had decided.

Jeremiah 41: Don’t take rumors for granted, privately work on them.

Image
In this chapter, we see what Gedaliah had considered as a rumor coming true. Ishmael had served long in Judah army even during Zedekiah’s times. He must have been a descendant of King David through Elishama( 2Sam 5:16, Jere 41:1) and thus a loyal family member who, according to himself, deserved kingship too. Also, the fact that the Ammonite country had been part of the deal to disobey Babylonian rule(Jeremiah 27:1-3) and Ishmael was their as Zedekiah’s soldier in those times also makes it clear that he still did not want the Judah remnants under Gedaliah to submit to Babylon. Another great reason why Ishmael murdered his leader Gedaliah was his greed for money and riches. The Ammonite country must have been paying him to carry out the assassination.

My Easter’s message: Can our daily sins rob us heaven?. Salvation can only be taken away by that which offers it. So what makes you get saved?

Image
You see, about 80% of people who go to churches are not sure if they will go to heaven or not. Actually, when asked if they are sure, most christians will tell you that they are not sure. Their being good and trying to remain Christians is the maintenance of the hope that God will accept them especially if they could die following a prayer of repentance. Many people are there wishing they knew when they are dying so they may get spiritually ready. And since we both know that death is usually abrupt, then almost all of us will die unready. But does this mean we will lose heaven?

Jeremiah chapter 40: Success is just where you are and what is in you, do not move.

Image
Our today’s reading is simply a narration of the events during the siege and destruction of Judah. The chapter opens with God’s word to Jeremiah. According to chapter 42, verse 7, Jeremiah received any more words from God 10 days after the complete destruction of Jerusalem. The chapter goes on to narrate how Jeremiah had been found a prisoner in his own land and by his own people but was set free by the Babylonian commander, Nebuzaradan, who asked Jeremiah to choose whatever life or place he wanted to live in and it would be granted. In response, Jeremiah chose to stay with Judah’s remnants(the poor and mild citizens that Babylon had neglected carrying as captives) under their newly appointed governor, Gedaliah. So he was set free with a gift and enough food to eat(verses 1-6).
